I've got a 97 A4 QM. I was going to replace the instrument cluster from a 97 A4 1.8t Auto. Curious if anyone knew if an instrument cluster from an a4 with an auto tranny would for with mine with a manual. Also (stupid question), I noticed that when the instrument cluster is removed that you lose your trip odometer reading. The odometer is stored somewhere else like in the ecu correct, so I wouldn't have to worry about odometer problems? Thanks!

i'm going to guess that you can swap from an auto to a manual. Just remove your cluster doument the part number, an verify with your replacement one. You can change the mileage forward once on a cluster with a VAGCOM. you can not lower the mileage though.

Another intstrument cluster question...
I bought a used VDO cluster. I want to take the lens off of it and put it on my UK-NSI cluster because it is scratched. Will it fit? Are there any advantages of the VDO vs. the UK-NSI? Would I be able to reset service interval reminders through the cluster unlike my old cluster? Would it be better to just install the VDO cluster and have the dealer set the mileage to what is on my car currently? Anyone know how much a dealer would charge for the install/recoding?
Thanks!!
