Will Passport honor warranty claims on an 8500 bought from Ebay?

I know this is blatantly offtopic, but I marked it as such. So, caveat emptor and all that. Anyway, I've seen good prices on Escort 8500s on Ebay and I'd like to pull the trigger in the very near future.
The one thing that has me worried is if anything comes up warranty-wise. If I buy from an Ebay business, will I have any problems making a warranty claim? The seller offers a 30-day warranty on them, which gives some measure of security, but I'd like to know I'm okay if something happens down the road. From reading the warranty disclaimer on Passport's site it doesn't appear that they make any mention of 'authorized dealers' or anything else, but it can't hurt to check for sure. I'd appreciate any input.

As you pointed out, some companies offer warranties only if purchased through an "authorized retailer." And sometimes those warranties only apply to the original purchaser.
While I've never owned a Passport, I can tell you that I have certainly had warranty work performed on electronic items which I bought used (via USENET -- well before most retailers knew what it meant to buy something on the internet.)
Call or email them asking about their policy, and mention that you are buying it used, instead of possibly grey market.
Good luck,
Peter

If the seller is offering a 30 day warranty, it's most likely because you won't have any other warranty to rely on. Contact the seller, and ask them.

I emailed a few previous buyers and I've gotten two replies saying that it came as advertised. I've emailed them back to see if it came with a warranty card or anything like that. Good point about calling it used versus grey market. Call this umpteen-hand knowledge, but I don't believe it's legal for a company to refuse warranty service if the buyer isn't original.
Thanks for your input.

I placed the order through www.ppraudio.com a few minutes ago. I called them up on the phone (bet I surprised the guy after I Whois'd their domain to find it, lol!) to verify the whole warranty issue and got it very specifically that the 30-day warranty is not in place of but merely a supplement to the original 1-year Escort warranty.
Plus, for $15, they're shipping it expedited, and according to the guy it should arrive here by Monday. Knock on wood...
