will the stock brakes make it through a DE event without dying?

I don't plan to do anything radical to the car for track events but I know the front brakes won't handle much heat before fading. I plan on taking an extra set of front pads with me but I'd rather not go with any sort of big brake kit until next year. My snows are on 15" rims and I've one, maybe two seasons left in them. So that would mean putting the factory brakes back in just for the winter. Still the car is going to be shared in a two day event at pocono so I'm seriously thinking of the A8 kit before then and just plan on putting the factory brakes back afterwards.

Bed them properly, and you should be fine. I would toss them in right from the start of the event. You can save your street pads, and put them back in after the event is over.
Buy a full set of front and rear pads. And bleed the brakes with some good fluid as well.

but from the concern shown here I'll switch to 600 for the event. It's kind of funny. In the "first timer" kit they specifically say not to bother doing anything to the brakes for your first year or two. Of course the difference is they expect you to be driving a Porsche. Very different animal.
