Default Will waxing over Teflon Coating help preserve it or destroy it?

I had my '97 A4 Teflon Coated in early 99
It still works, but I have not waxed it because I don't know if the wax will destroy or preserve the teflon.

Any thoughts on this???

It won't hurt it, but your scrambled eggs will taste like carnauba.

Teflon can't be "coated". Are you sure you weren't scammed?

"if nothing sticks to teflon, how does teflon stick to itself?"

Default Teflon is a process similar to electroplating.....more

If someone rubbed, wiped or sprayed something onto your car and called it teflon....you've been had! Similarly if an oil or gas additive claims to coat your pistons or other internal engine components with teflon it's time to call your local Consumer Protection Agency. These kinds of fraud are handed down like heirlooms from generation to generation. There is a new sucker born every minute.

Default Auto Detailers are full of it then?

When auto detailers want to charge like $60-$80 for a Teflon Protective Coating, then you are saying that they are playing all consumers who do it as suckers?

The "coating" or whatever you call it, does help the shine of the car after I wash it. And it beads rain even though I have not waxed it.

I honestly don't know how they apply it, perhaps it's just a different kind of chemical that they tag the Teflon name too.

Default Pretty much. Clearcoat paint can be made to shine brilliantly with only a mildly abrasive polish

I suspect what they are selling as teflon is simply a silicon based coating like liquid Nu Finish. There's nothing wrong with it and you are probably getting your $75 worth if a guy spends two hours rubbing your car with anything. It's definitely NOT coating of Dupont Teflon.
