Default Window haze, i thought replacing the wipers would get rid of it.

I used to love how my old OEM wipers in the rain. They would wipe away all water, streak and haze free. But lately they have not been doing such a good job. The water is wiped from the windshield, but a foggy haze is left. It is there until it evaporates, which doesnt take long, but it's not clear as it once was. I jusr replaced the wipers yesterday, but to no effect. Is there anything I can do to my windshield (chemically treat, etc..) that will remove this this haze and allow once again a crystal clear windshield after using the wipers? tia.

Default The First Rule of Fight Club is....

You do not talk about Haze.

2nd Rule....

well you get the idea.

Anyways, do this. Clean both the inside and outside of your windows with windex. Let the outside dry, and then apply Rain-X. If you haven't used it before, it will solve about %90 of your problems with streaking.

Plus, drive down the hwy @ about 55 and watch the water fly off your windshield. :-)

imho, rainx creates more problems than it solves when used on the windshield.

Yeah, like rendering your wipers useless in heavy rain.

Default How do you figure?

I always apply to coats of it to my windshield (letting them sit for about 30 mins) before I wipe them off.

Even after it wears off, the wipers still work fine in heavy downpours. I've never been at the point where I couldn't see and it was life threatening.

I gave up on it years ago. Would be OK for a week, then its smears like crazy till you scrub it off.

Default It's not life-threatening...

The use of wipers wears off the rainx coating quickly...but it never completely disappears. It just deteriorates so that it's partially effective. The result: smearing or streaking, and the temporary haze that follows the wiper blade.

A well cleaned window, and a good set of rubber wiper blades are a better solution imho...especially for extended driving in the rain.

I've used rainx for years, and now I use it on all the glass except the front windshield. That's what I prefer, but it's hardly a life and death decision.
