Windshield pits...

Stupid construction truck cut me off and I have about 100 tiny pits all over my windshield. Was thinking about getting it replaced but people tell me its not a good idea because factory seal will never be the same. Anyone have ideas on what I should do. On a side note...if I were to get it replaced, is there some sort of coating or special glass that is pit-resistant?

otherwise griots sells a window resurfacing kit...you use a drill and a few grades of cutting compound, I think it's to remove haze and such from aged windsheilds.
