Windshield replacement in NYC ?

Grrr... I was driving east on the BQE this evening to sign the papers on my new apartment in Queens. I was travelling a modest 50-60mph (I couldn't believe it either -- usually the BQE crawls at 10-20mph). And I saw it coming:
A little pebble fell from an overpass.
Smacked my car right in the windshield.
I've gotten bombarded with road debris in the past, but escaped without any scars. But this little pebble left its mark on my windshield.
The glass is gouged about 1mm, and the "spider crack" is about 1" in diameter.
Should I get this fixed ? Or should I replace the windshield altogether ? Or should I leave it alone until it starts to get worse ?
Should I get an OEM windshield? (I know that many people don't like the OEM windshield.) Or what brand should I get? And where should I have it done ? (I'm on Staten Island.)
I guess I should be glad that the pebble hit the glass, and not the metal. I have 100% glass coverage. But if the rock had hit my hood or roof and left a mark, I would have to pay for that repair out of pocket (would be less than insurance deductable.)
Thanks in advance,
Peter
