Default Windshield Wiper Question

Somebody posted something a couple of weeks ago about Bosch Mircro Edge Excel refills fitting on the OEM wiper arms.

Can anybody confirm this?

I am fed up with the OEM rubber and would like to change but I don't want to lose the wind deflector on the driver's side. If the refills do work that probably be a better solution.

Default Yes, it can be done, and it works very well. I have done this on both of my cars.

Getting the original ones off is the hardest part, and that is easy, just take the wiper off of the car before yo start yanking on it.

Default I removed mine and replaced with the el-cheap-o Anco refills...

they fit too and they aren't too bad... except the last inch or two of the passenger side floats off the window when the wipers are towards the bottom (start and end point) of the sweep. I guess they aren't as flexible as OEM and don't conform to the curvature of the window. A minor annoyance but not life threatening.

When I went to the dealer to replace them back to the OEM blade, I was told it would cost me lots of money cuz when I removed the original blades, I also discarded the thin metal strips (two for each blade) that hold them in place. Evidently those metal strips are very expensive. They want around $18 bucks for each side! DOH!

Amazing

Default Yes indeed Audi only changes out the rubber. I questioned if they changed my blades when requested

because I could still see a rust/metal stain on the metal next to the blade. That's when he said that it's just the rubber that it swapped. Now I sure hope that if I want to buy just the rubber after my warranty is up, I will be able to at a reasonable cost - otherwise, Bosche here I come

Default Hated the Anco stuff

on my Integra. Their "aero" blades were a euphemism for "will lift at 50mph and be useless" and their plastic/rubber blades wore out a lot quicker than the Acura blades and the black paint on the metal part flaked off quickly. It was cheap to replace w/ more Anco stuff, but wasn't worth it IMHO :-P

Default Yea, I still have the OEM blade holder.. I like that little fin that keeps 'em snug to the window.

I just aced the rubber with the two thin metal inserts.
