Default Wiring a LED dash light to fuse panel? is it possible?

I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter in New York. I would like to wire a LED light to the fuse panel instead of having the cord from my dash board to my ciggerette lighter. Does anyone know if it is possible to wire this light directly to the fuse panel and use the on/off switch that is on the light itself? the Light only draws .5amps during its operation. If I am able to wire this to the fuse panel, how would I go about doing it? which amp fuse would i use since this light only draws .5 amps? and also which fuse slots are the switched that only work when the ignition is on?
Thanks
