Default Working on the Eibach spring install today and ran into a major problem...

Front Drivers side:

The bolt that holds the upper control arms to the wheel bearing housing is frozen. Being that this has always been a florida car, and has had less than 3 week long trips into the snow.

I have tried an over nite session with PB Blaster, still with no luck. The nut is off, but the bolt will not move.

I tried using the dual wrench trick to get a little more torque, and the head started to move, but the treads didnt....Bad

Is there something i'm missing here? The Upper spring perch has already been unbolted from the upper control arm assembly, and the Upper control arm assembly has also been unbolted. It seems like there is something pinching the control arms against the bolt.

The passenger side came out fine, and already has the strut back in.

HELP!!!

You don't need to remove that bolt unless you're replacing the upper control arms.

Default Well, then is there any secret to removing the lower control arm Ball joint?

It seem like there would be just enough room to get the Strut out if i could get the damn ball joint to pop out.

Default It would probably be easier to remove the inner lower control arm bolt...

(at the subframe) and then swing the control arm out of the way.

Default dont even touch that bolt unless you have a replacement on hand.

You should be able to remove the suspention with out removing any of the control arms. simply un bolt the bottom of the strut and the bolts 3 bolts under the hood. access bolts by removing the little painted rubber plugs

Default With RKA's help i was able to successfully remove strut.

The fronts are done. I have to go to work, so tonight i will be finishing up the rears. I know some people wonder why do the fronts first, since they are usually harder, but i figure get the hard stuff out of the way first, so the easier stuff is that much easier!!!

Default Welcome to my pain....

Had the same problem Friday night. Overnight soak with liquid wrench and some whacks with a 4 lb sledge hammer did it for me. But the pros on here will tell you that an air hammer is the easiest way.
