I wont be doing any AutoX or anything of that sort (I dont think) but I do want a very lowered look. Should I find a really good chiropractor first? hehe

Default I suggest H&R Race AND Bilsteins...

For essentially 2 reasons:

1. You have a 96, which does not have the sport suspension. Therefore, with the Race springs, your shocks just arent gonna cut it. My stock SPORT shocks are ok tho, but i will probably go for bilsteins in the future cuz my car right now is noticably bouncier and don't know how long these shocks are gonna hold.

2. By just installing the H&R race springs, your car WILL NOT have the "very lowered look". Granted my springs are new and still need to settle, it is really not as low as i thought it would be (2 finger gap in back, 2+ finger gap in the front).
Get the Bilsteins with the adjustable perches and the car can be setup to be lower than if you simply had the springs on the OEM shocks.

Hope this helps...
2000 1.8TQMS Santorin/Ecru

i went with the h&r lowering springs which are about 1/4 taller than the race springs and ride about the same. I want to still drive my car in the snow. Whatever aftermarket spring you go with (race or lowering) you won't regret it. it won't start riding harsh until you go with bigger rims.
www.eaimports.com
