Would you say my k03 has gone bust?
Now that I thought I had solved my problems and was seriously considering the move to a bigger turbo, I have just realized it is not yet working fine on the boost department.
A couple of hours ago, there was nearly no boost all over the rpm range.
Just an hour ago, I picked the car up again, boost failed for a couple of minutes and now seems to be perfectly fine all the time again.
What would you make of this? Would you say it's a bad k03, or would you still consider any boost leaks? Idle is silk smooth regardless of the condition.

You just immediately assume your turbo is bust because you aren't boosting?
That's like saying my turkey is overcooked before I even put it in the oven.
Check ALL your hoses, connections, clamps, and LISTEN for a boost leak. I have one right now, and my car sounds like a street sweeper when I uber boost.
Sheesh, search the GD forums.

could be several things
1) Perhaps the car is going into limp mode
2) The cat. converter could have come apart, and pieces of it could be blocking the exhaust, allowing no flow, creating no spool.
3) Check all lines, could be a faulty diverter valve
I went through this same thing, replacing my k03 with the apt gt2X kit, and the problem remained. $3000 later, it turns out it was just the cat.

Re: Wouldn't limp mode mean car would be making no boost until engine...
was restarted or codes reset?
It is not like that at all. I may get normal boost for 30 minutes, then all of a sudden, no boost for another very long while.

Re: Well, the thing is totally erratic but it is not like a surging condition ...
if you know what I mean. It is more like the boost is there most times, but some other times, it feels as the N-75 was open.
When that happens I can be driving miles with hardly any boost. Then car suddenly comes to life and I can be driving miles with perfectly smooth full boost. Isn't that confusing?

Sucks to hear stuff still isn't working out...
I remember your past posts and know you have tried all sorts of stuff already.
Have you tried swapping in another stock n75 just to rule that out? The stock n75c on your 98 was known to fail. Try to find someone locally who is willing to let you try their n75.
