Default wow. a clean waxed car makes a big difference.

my car is finally clean after a long winter and not only is it faster but I got 2 compliments today in the middle of stop and go traffic from people asking to roll my window down just to make such a comment.

people could care less when it was a salted pretzel or splattered with mud or when the color was grey instead of silver.

can't wait to get a porter cable now and see what that does.

Hey Monkeyboy, you can still wash the car, it just has to be before 10:00AM on even/odd days!

Default Anyone use a buffer

I was just curious, cause I don't know that much about polishing, buffind, and waxing... Do you use an electric or other machanical buffer to polish your car...??? and then wax it..???

Im asking becuase I have a heavy duty air compresor which Im pretty sure they air buffers available for it... But I don't know much about it... Any info would be apprecaited..

Default Air buffers

tend not to be orbital, which is a bad thing. If you're going to use a buffer, look into the Porter Cable Random Orbital. Several other companies make similar types. I use my orbital for application of polish and wax only. I use towels for removal.

Default They can

Swirls are very small, nearly microscopic scratches in the clear coat, or paint. Improper use of a buffer can cause the problem. A lot of people try to remove wax and polish using a clean bonnet, but this is a no-no. A dry bonnet can cause swirl marks. If you use the buffer for application only, and keep the buffer from drying out, you shouldn't have problems with swirl marks. Non-orbital buffers are more susceptible to causing swirl marks, also.
