WTF, am I dumb? replacing the upper control arms in the front and I can't get the bolt out of the..
one nearest the front of the car. I got the nut off but the bolt hits the firewall before I can get it out. Do I just need to wiggle it more?

You need to drop the strut assembly.
Take the three bolts out inside the engine bay. There's a locating pin that has a clip on it that's a pain to get off. You don't need to. If you just get the bolts out, you can swing the thing around enough to get the front bolt out.
