WTF? Why does the new Jetta have 180 hp 1.8T and we get 170?

the Jetta does not have Quattro. When they give it 4-Motion, they will increase the power in the A4.
Does anyone know if the Passat is getting the new 3.0 or will they put the new VR-6 into it? That's probably how they'll keep the V6 brands seperate.

This is what I am getting at. I feel the same as you and I am not trying to start a fight with anyone here I just wanteed to have a conversation and exchange opinions about this. People seem to be very sensitive to topics like this. I have a chip and I am happy with both the stock and the chipped power that my 2001 has. I do have concerns that when "someday" I will have a problem and the dealer will give me the expected, "you chipped, your problem" speach.
I am just wanted to say that I feel that we have better quality cars the the jetta, and that our cars are in the same family. I would think that we would get better everything, except price, from the factory. This was all brought up with me because a friend is buying a jett and he is running his mouth about his is Faster, Lighter, and has more HP. I have no recourse. He is right. He spent ~6k less then I did. I do get to say I have an Audi however and I am afforded a bit more luxury. I think that you all get my point.
Not trying to argue.

don't forget, A4 is not top of the line either. And the A4 is not supposed to be a sport sedan anymore. In Audi's model line, the higher performance version (180hp) of the 1.8T engine is for "real sports car", like the TT.

buy it mainly coz' it is an European car, different from a Bimmer and maybe coz' it is AWD. Maybe the JD Powers surveys Audi gets are mainly women (or men) drivers whose primary concern aren't HP or SPEED.
But hey, on the bright sight - we have a nice interior
and AWD. So, that justifies the extra cost over a Jetta.

To shut his hole and be happy with the car he baught. Is he buying the Jetta because it's faster and has 10 more HP than yours? Is that his only reason? I suspect he can't afford to spend more like you did on your Audi and he needs a cop out reason.
Like I said, it's a nice car, but it's not an Audi. It has no quattro, the interior isn't nearly up to par, and it doens't carry as much prestique with it's name (which matters to A LOT of people)
If it was all about speed, everone here would be buying 3.5 Altima's wouldnt they?
Even if my Audi was only 150hp stock (I got a 2001 so it was 170), I'd still rather have spent more money on it, than buying a 2002 jetta with 180hp.

my 1.8T stick on the highway. From stop, maybe. But that's cause I can just mash on the gas pedal (since it is an auto). I treasure my clutch to just drop it at 3500rpm like some of you people here.
