Default WWAWD?: First track day, but tires need replacing...get new tires quickly before track or wait?

I have my first track day coming up on the 20th of June. right now I have Yoko AVS ES100's on my car. My fronts still have quite a bit of tred left, but my rears are at about 2/32" (all of lincoln's head plus a bit is showing).

I don't really like the idea of getting brand new tires and taking them out on the track right away. not only because of wear, but because I want to go into the day knowing how my car handles.

Should I hurry up and find some tires in stock locally or should I just run with the worn ones? Will my car pass tech with the worn tires?

BTW, i'm considering Falken RT-615's or Kumho SPT's for replacements. Anyone have any experience with these for light track use and summer street driving?

Default Run the ones you have. They sound perfect.

You will chunk the living hell out of new tires.

Default you'll be fine to use those. RT615 isn't going to be good in the rain. Kumbo MX is a cheap one

that many track guys use for the street too.

Default That's exactly what I was thinking. Will they pass tech though? (more inside)

My track day is with the oregon PCA chapter.

They require a shop do a tech inspection:<ul><li><a href="http://www.oregonpca.org/events/drivers-ed/de-tech-inspection">Oregon PCA tech requirements</a></li></ul>

Default you'll be fine. Local BMW club for me says 2/32 min in case of rain

from the PDF you linked to

DOT-approved tires
must have visible tread depth. Vehicle must have same tire brand
and type at all corners and identical tires on each axle.
