I am currently in the process of installing a remote starter/alarm on my 99.5 A4. I have searched, but did not come up with a single good answer.
The problem with the remote starter is that when it disables the factory alarm, the doors automatically unlock, leaving the car prone to ttheft while it is remotely running.
I need to be able to disarm the factory alarm and still leave the doors locked. Has anyone done this before? Is it Possible?
If not, than I may have a really nice remote starter/alarm combo for sale!
By the way, this is the remote starter that I am going to install, or sell:<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3077200914&cat egory=14934&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT&r d=1">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3077200914&cat egory=14934&sspagename=STRK%

I would think that the factory alarm would need to be removed b/c remote starters are usually built in alarms too.. but if I am wrong about that I would go to the brain of the factory alarm and try to isloate the circuit that controls the locking mechanisms.. I would just give that wire a little snip and see how it works.. but thats me! haha.. Just a suggestion..

pedal before starting. Unless the starter kit splices into the clutch pedal sensor to create a false closed circuit, but then you run the risk of forgetting to make certain your car is in neutral before starting.
