Or a propane bottle mounted one...

Regular price for these is <a href="http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053&productId=10065219 7">$47 from HomeDepot</a>...
What do you think is better.. no refills needed for the electric ones.

the garage heater can bake the entire shop in under 15 mins in -40celcius
propane

this one in the station heats up the station in... oh... 2 mins?
Both are propane and work amazingly well. Very economical, and you can turn them on for say 20 mins... then shut them off. They'll radiate heat for a while

1)Syn oil filled heater- Fine for small indoor rooms, forget it in anything like a 2 bay garage. The cold radiating up from the concrete is enough to kill it off. One needs to watch the level of electric useage with these.
2)Forced hot air/Kerosene heaters- They do the job but can give you nose bleeds due to such dry hot air. The smell and fumes are not terribly pleasent either.
3)Propane heaters- My #1 choice. Reasonbly efficient and clean, makes lots of heat. Its worth getting one that has some reasonable level of BTU's.
4)Electric heaters- Too inefficient and not enough heat. Unless the garage is very well insulated, I've found its tough to make these work.
The comments were made here were assuming you were looking for something smaller. Nat gas set-ups are quite nice but are fairly costly to set up, but are generally more efficient then oil.

No problem. Yep,insulate were you can, very inexpensive heat. It will a make a smaller heater far more productive and efficient. I'm about to insulate the garage ceiling for that reason(cheap developers). Door seals & door alignment are another to watch, especially if your in a windy area like we are.
