when you got to your highest point can you tell that your car can't be pushed anymore

Default Good idea. It is much easier to reel it in when you still have some car left.
Once you exceed 100%, you are at the mercy of what ever is in your path.

Also lucky that A4 quattros are very forgiving at the limit.
