LOL yeah I'm wondering the same...
there are nowhere near as many options from engines to interior and exterior choices that they get over in Europe. What that report indicates is that we're getting screwed even worse. We'll never get sport seats
This is probably just a ploy to make more money though and cut costs. The options will probably all still be there but they'll be bundled into packages like on the A3 with the Premium Package and the Sports Package.
They will probably save money manufacturing because cars won't vary as much. They will probably make more money cause you will buy a package that includes more options than you may otherwise want.
I'm just speculating and guessing though... so what do I know

Yeah, it will drive me right out of the brand...
I'm in the minority that doesn't want 10k in options that add useless weight and complexity. I couldn't even order my car today i.e. no sunroof.

Couldn't have said it better....
So, maybe this will be my first - and last - A4.
Or, I'll just keep buying them used.
(e.g. - Last year, I was faced with the decision - new A3 with 2.0T and FWD for $28K, or my car for $20,700. Gee, let me think for a moment...)
