i've always associated options with luxury. why does a maybach have a million options? yet, a custom maybach can be spec-ed out in less than an hour b/c their sales men actually know what they're talking about.
yes, let's dumb down our options list so our sales men can be even more useless than they already are. and let's aim for the market of people who either like to be told what to buy, or simply dont care what car they're driving.
i've associated Audi/VW as the most tuner-focused market, but i guess that's about to change in America.
