Default $4.79 a gallon!

For 100 octane that is I have been running this lately to see how the MTM Stage 2 runs. At first I had about 50/50 of 91/100 octane and the car seemed to improve in terms of power and less pinging. I'm not sure where the octane level was with this 8-9 gls of 100 octane mixed into a full tamk with 91 octane, but I'm sure it was above 94 octane. Anyways, now with pure 100 octane running, it is much better with power and from what I can tell, no audible pinging. I want to try and do a MAHA dyno to see what it is producing though. Would be interesting to see how much of a difference it makes.

No answers yet from JHM/MTM as to why my Stage 2 isn't delivering on 91 octane though. Mike at Ikon has been very helpful though, looking into it and contacting JHM.

Default Good to hear. I was talking to the Dahlback specialist at ND the other day...

And he told me that Dahlback was also having trouble getting his target hp and tq due to the 91 craptane in Cali. So I'm starting to think that alll of the chip tuning issues may simply be related to the crapy octane we get here in Cali.

Default Well, good and bad....

Can't be expected to run 100 octane at that price. And at least Dalhback admitted it up front. Have they released anything yet for the B6 with HP/TQ claims?

Default Yeah....they claim 225hp/258 lb-ft from Stage 2+

220hp/254lb-ft from Stage 1+
212hp/240lb-ft from Stage 1.

However, this is from the TJMMotorsport.com website, and I can't be sure if this is for the 2003 A4 or for another car. If you select the 1.8t 163hp engine, than the numbers fall back in line with what MTM suggests.

But the person I was talking to had the Dahlback chip on his Jetta. He was expecting to see 243 or something like that, but saw 231. I didn't get into details because of time constraints, but it seemed that he was satisified with how Dahlback was handling it.

Oh and another thing. He clarified Dahlback's relationship with MTM a little more. His understanding is that Dahlback and MTM cooperate and "share" hardware, but not software. So some of the hardware for the MTM kits was actually made by Dahlback and vice versa.

Finally, he said that Dahlback has no problem reprogramming their chip for future non-Dahlback upgrades, like a K04. Its not a custom tune, but they will offer you the program that corresponds to what they would offer in an upgrade.

It sounds like I can get a K04, injectors and try the Dahlback K04 program, is basically what I'm trying to say.

Interesting. I'm leaning towards Dahlback right now, because of the local factor.

Default Whoa!

Thems is some high numbers. Maybe for another car/engine though, as that 163hp is the Euro equivalent for our A4 1.8t. If those were our numbers, I'd be on that in a sec. I was actually more curious about Dahlback of late, seeing them mentioned more and knowing they worked/shared with MTM. They just sound to be more "customer" oriented then JHM too. If I wasn't already financially emersed in MTM, I'd try them out, or Sportec.
