Default 02' A4 1.8T sunroof "chatters" last few inches when openeing and closing HELP !

I have had this problem for sometime. It gets REALLY annoying in the damp humid weather. In the cold dry weather it's almost gone. SO humidity plays a big role. The track appears fine / greased. Could it be the actual motor and cables ?

Thanks in advance.

Phil

Default search using my ID and the word "sunroof"...

I fixed this problem awhile back. Its a problem with the contacts getting "tired". You could probably buy a new sunroof switch but it looks expensive so I just opened it and fixed it myself.

My b5 did that. The plastic track was broken, it was covered under warrenty.

Default dealership covered it under warranty when I had that problem

the "ghost" sunroof they said was a factory design defect that caused the contacts to malfunction occasionally.

Default Had dealer replace sunroof switch twice due to chatter and tilt auto dropping. They replaced ...

the sunroof motor and switch the 2nd time. Would also get the "ghost shuffling". Had it at another dealer and commented on re-ocurring chatter. 2nd dealer replaced switch a 3rd time, saying the contacts would corrode and that there was a part number change. Smooth and problem free since Fall of 2005.

Default I think it was Marvin the Martian. He has done mine exactly twice, no more. Cause/effect unknown!

There are things known and things unknown...
