Wetterauer (www.chip-tuning.com) has a chip for the A4 3.0. As far as I know, they are the first one with a chip upgrade. GIAC and OCT are each supposedly working on a chip, but don't plan on coming out with something till after the beginning of the year.
My car has the factory sports suspension and 6 speed. My only mod so far has been a K&N filter, which improved throttle response considerably, and may have added a few horsepower.
I am considering a Milltek or LLTek catback exhaust as well as the Wetterauer chip. The exhaust system looks to add about 6-7% hp and torque and the Wetterauer chip can add about 15 hp and around 21 foot lbs of torque.
My question is this: Do those exhaust and filter mods affect the chip upgrade? In other words, should the chip maker know that I have these other mods so that they give me software optimized for these mods?

lists one on their website. (For Neuspeed's check the Greedspeed site.)
Even with the chip, I don't think the exhaust will add power to a 3.0. You'll more likely lose low end torque for a little bit of high end horsepower. Those exhaust performance numbers are probably more for the 1.8T, where the turbo benefits from a less restrictive exhaust more.
As far as the exhaust and intake affecting the chip, no, you do not need notify the chip maker. If you were changing the cams or adding a charger/turbo then yes, it would definitely be required to have a different chip.

and there will be very little gain from an after market exhaust system, if any.But to answer your question, no you don't need to tell them about air filter or exhaust upgrade. It would hurt if you mention it to them though. Wetteraurer offers a Ram Air with the chip at an extra cost if you want. I am my self looking into the wetterauer chip. Let me know how you like the chip if you bought the chip before me.
