Next check the shift linkage for wear, excessive play, etc...
Ya might want to try and adjust your shifter & linkage, if the above items show no signs of wear.

put lithium greese on all the moving parts. There was lots of hardend white greese chards/chunks in the shifter pan at the bottom below the shift connection. I test drove it with some difference. I will see if the greese works its way in a bit more with use.
