Default 02 A4 T belt- what else??

so its time for a T belt on my sis' car- and she's not excited about paying the $1100 quoted at the dealer. so she asked me to do it.

how hard is this for a DIY- i am a fairly competent shade tree- so am not scared of it, just want to know how long I'll have her car.

what else needs to be done- the water pump, tensioner pulley, surp belt are what I'd expect, but what else is there on these engines> 1.8T, BTW.

also- can someone post a link to a good DIY on this????

TIA, mo

so I found autohuazaz has good prices, I use them for my Benz and Volvo a lot.

what is a better water pump- bosch, graf or geba?

should I do the Hyd tensioner?

the car is just shy of 100K. MILES.

also looks like Oreilly has all parts in stock, right down the street- but crappy parts, no?? Gates belts aren't too bad, I guess. I would like to do the job this weekend, but dont want to use crap parts.

Cutting it close with a t-belt job that late. Check PureMS or ECS for complete t-belt packages.

yeah- well she gets all service done at the dealership- they like BIG$$$ jobs, apparently an $1100 T belt job isn't enough for them, they dont care about customer service as much as they love their money.

When she told me she was getting the 100K service done, I asked her to find out when the T belt had been changed last, so I would know when it was due- they never changed it!!!!!!
what is the Audi Spec on T belt Changes? I am tempted to call the service manager and question him- the dealership is also a benz dealer where I get a lot of my parts, and we have about 6 other Audi's in the immediate family circle which are serviced there.

Any recommendations on a good Indy in the Minneapolis-St Paul area?

Default I'm not sure what Audi recommends, but many on this forum recommend doing it at 60K miles.

Post up in the regional forum for recommendations on an indy shop.

Default mfg has the t-belt job at 90/100,000 miles I think.. later models they shortened in the time frame

It was somewhat significantly beyond the 60k miles that many on the board prefer to use. It may have been around the mid-model for the B6 where they shortened the time frame.
