Is there any comparison?
I saw a loaded "6" at the mall yesterday (dealer showcase) and it was sweet. On paper it looks good and seems comparable to the (low-end) A4. Also, I believe it's faster 0-60 (with the 6 cyl.) as well as $7k cheaper. It's received great reviews so far.
Talk some sense into me; I've gotta buy a new car very soon.
Thanks in advance.<ul><li><a href="http://www.edmunds.com/new/2003/mazda/6/100195195/photos.html?tid=edmunds.n.prices.leftsidenav..13.M azda*">http://www.edmunds.com/new/2003/mazda/6/100195195/photos.html?tid=edmunds.n.prices.leftsidenav..13.M azda*</a</li></ul>

I used to own a Mazda hatchback, and loved it. Good fit and finish, fun to drive factor was high, and it was very reliable. Mazda has done great things with the new 6. However, when it came time for me to purchase again the Audi won out for several reasons. The biggest one was I wanted something that not everyone had. I knew that the 6 would eventually flood the streets. In Toledo, OH there aren't that many A4's and I felt that I would would fall into a more unique catagory.
The biggest factors for me were: Quattro, dual climate control, style, value, Xenon headlights, Quattro, german engineering, Quattro...

Madza is a great value for the $ since you'll get a 220hp engine at a 1.8T price. However, overall quality is definitely on Audi's side. The interior of the Mazda 6 is plain and ugly. Stick with the 1.8T at any cost.

is nice but i only like the front end, because it looks mean. but the rear needs some improvement, especially with those mirror/chromey tailights. do people still like that? those are so played...

I have test driven them in the past. The exterior styling was OK but the lack of quality in the interior bothered me. It also had feather weight doors. That was not a plus in my mind. If you want speed, take the money you are planning to spend on the Mazda and buy a used Corvette. You can get a pretty sweet Vett for that money.

No offence to my fellow Italian friends, but the Mazda 6 is a bit too Mustangy looking.
While an improvement over the old one, it tries to be too many things...a muscle car, but also an elegant luxury car.
Lacks the subtle lines and class of an A4.
