TRM on the S4 forum just bought a "6"...might want to ask him for some thoughts.
I've looked at it from the outside...seems kinda nice. Mazda has always done a nice job tuning their suspensions for "zoom". I doubt I would replace an Audi with one, but it would be a nice daily driver to supplement the Audi! :-)

chrome tailights are not on the US version...
because it is played out like you said. Mazda 6 is closest japanese car has come to capturing the spirit of a true sports sedan that seems inherent in almost every european car...
and the doors doesn't sound tinny like a honda.
