Default '04 A4 Will Not Start

Have a '04 A4 1.8 T that sometimes will not start. Have had it into the dealer 4 times and they couldn't find anything wrong. Warranty is now expired. Any suggestions???? Throttle position sensor? Oxygen sensor? Fight the dealer? HELP!!!!!!

Default We need some more information

Did you try a new battery? Are there any codes being thrown/CEL's?

Default Re: We need some more information

Battery is strong. No codes/CEL's. Turns over fine but sometimes will not start after sitting a few hours.

Default Ever replaced your fuel filter?

Hear any whining coming from the back of the car? Fuel pump having intermittent problems?

Default perhaps check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail...

maybe a leaking injector is causing fuel pressure drop at the rail?

Default Re: Ever replaced your fuel filter?

The fuel pump was replaced by the dealer a few months ago. Don't hear any noise from the back of the car. Will replace the fuel filter then check the pressure.

Default my 03 1.8t will do that sometimes

the other morning it was 25degrees out and it took 8 tries for it to start, the morning before it was 15 out and started first try. Then sometime it does the warm start where I run in the store, come back out and it takes 3 or 4 tries to get it to start. No CEL's yet! It's getting it's firsted CPO checkup on Friday. I'm sure it will be nothing or very expensive, love a dealer stickin me LOL

Default Your plugs may be partially fouled. Also, if you are using plugs that are two temps

cooler then stock, cold weather will affect starting if plugs are not warmed, (engine running near normal operating temp). Starting up and turning off within a min may foul the plugs in cold weather, (happened to me).
Plus, the iridium plugs were the worst for this.
I tried all types and found the Bosch copper plugs to work the best.

Default I'm having the same issue on my 3.0, waiting for my Bentley to do some testing and or someont to

post a fix for it. In the meantime, it helps me when I just turn the key and let it lit for a few seconds - then start the car. i can get it to start on the 1st try most of them time like that or at least the 2nd try.
