price you pay for a safe, somewhat "affordable," pc, stylish car
As far as hp goes, 170hp is not really that meager in absolute terms. Yeah, I know, some similarly-priced cars are pushing 200-270ish.
But consider, the Lotus Elise only has 120 hp (0-60 in 5.7).

Yes, that's my point. 2 ways to look at A4 acceleration.
Some blame mediocre acceleration on not enough power.
I actually would prefer less weight.
Why should a man with a fat stomach blame his legs?

You do make some interesting points. Both engines available on the A4 are starting to fall to the bottom of the sports sedan class. One should not purchase a car like this if it's a problem for them.

In Agreement
I live in Arizona and the turbo engine does not perform well in the heat. It is very hot here for half the year. I bought the car just before the heat came upon us and was amazed how much power was sapped when the temperatures increased. The car is even chipped with a GIAC. With the A/C on the car is very hard to modulate off the line with an easy release, it bogs down. The car really shines when cruising at highway speeds. There is an awesome drive from Phoenix to Las Vegas and the vehicle is great through the twisties and inlines. I love how the car builds boost climbing long mountain passes. I think the car would be easier to drive in the heat, on a daily basis with the automatic due to the constant boost. Anyway, don't jump all over me about the fact that I BOUGHT THE CAR SO DON'T COMPLAIN. I was unaware that the heat would sap the engine sooo much. I guess in the heat there is "no replacement for displacement."
