Default What does any of that have to do with the center section

where the oil and shaft/bearings are at? What your looking at is just the exhaust housing which is going to cool down if you run the car or not and has no effect on the center section for cooling. The center section only needs 1 minute to cool down so that oil does not cook inside the turbo or inside the line.

I have a gst eclipse that I put 150,000 miles on the stock turbo running at 18psi and never let the car cool down like you are saying.

I also had the K04 on my 2 liter and I would run the hell out of it so hard that it would actually glow pure white and you could see straight thru the the thing, I would just idle the car for 1-2 minutes and never had a issue with it.

Default Nothing is going to happen to the turbo since its just the metal of the exhaust housing

that is glowing. A 1-2 minute cool down is all you need.

Default Re: Jet, what about adding the after-run water pump like in the B5 S4 or 225 TT?

Sorry to jump in late, but the A4 1.8T does not come with an after-run water pump? Why would Audi be dumb and not put one on? Even my 1990 200 TQ has one (old technology). I may have to re think my purchase.

Default Improvements in turbo bearing materials and natural convention currents...

...allows them to do without the pump in the stock 1.8T. Some of the water pumps used have also been problematic. The plumbing hoses will have to be adapted from the 225 TT engine, a custom mounting bracket for the pump fabricated (still using the stock pump hold down), and a timer circuit set up to run for 5 minutes or until the coolant reaches a sane temperature. I've got everything so far except the mounting plate and the hoses properly adapted for the location on the block.
