Default 1.8T MORE ENGINE PROBLEMS???

I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS CORRECT. I HAVE A4 98 2.8 Q AND WANT TO TRADE IN WITH 1.8T (CAN'T AFFORD FOR 3.0). PLEASE SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCES. THANKS.

Look back to page 3 dated 12/5 (1.8T engine probs?). Virtually no problems w/ un-upgraded engines.

Default 1.8t is a good engine.....97 was the only problematic year

97 had a bad batch of turbos (failure due to wastegate rod breaking), and there were some problems with chipped cars having bypass valve failures, but I think that has been fixed as well.
