Default 1.8T tipronic RPM/gear combo sluggish at times

Here is my question:

While drinving my 1.8T tipronic quattro in "D" I have noticed sometimes when I round a corner my 1.8T quattro is like a dog in acceleration and response. I need to stomp on the accelerator pedal to get it moving. When this does happen, I quicky move the gear shift into Tipronic mode to see what gear I am in. It displays 2nd gear, but can't be right because from a dead stop 2nd gear is pretty peppy and moves the car with ever increasing acceleration. It is not turbo lag, I know what that is, plus my previous car was a 1999 1.8T.

Any 1.8T drivers experience this sluggishness before.

I am trying to figure out what gear the transmission really is in when this happens. I think the sluggishness may be casued by the transmission actually being in 3rd gear and at the low RPM's,,Any thoughts on this??

Default this happens on my wife's car too

it is a total dog. I think it has too many electronic gizmos hooked up. The accelerator is not mechanically attached to the engine. The esp sees to play into causing some hesitation too. I feel like it is constantly second guessing my inputs.

So it's just around corners and intermittent?

You got standart tiptronic or multitronic? Ive found multitronic to be excellent, a real leap forward.

Default Yep, it's in third. Here's what I do...

As I approach the turn, slip it into Tip mode, just before entering, hit it down once to go into second, and then accelerate outta the turn... feels great!

I know it's not an elegant solution, but hey, we're driving Tips.

Will us tiptronic owners need a special chip versus six speed people?

Default Usually tuners will have a chip for a manual transmission and one for an automatic.

There's also a chip called a "Tip Chip" which increases the responsiveness of your tip transmission. Makes the shifts faster and smoother.
