Default Does that filter have an internal checkvalve like the OEM?

Make sure it does, the valve in the OEM filter is there for a reason. If it doesn't have it, don't use it. It helps keep oil in the right places under continuous side loads, in a condition like this without the proper filter the turbo can starve for oil and go *poof*. You really don't experience this under normal daily driving conditions (of course this depends on your driving habits), but if you track or AutoX the car (without the proper filter), the turbo lady might be riding shotgun ;-)

Default had my 10K service recently....

brought in my own synthetic (same Redline 5w30) which they gladly used with about 1/3qt leftover. i asked for tire rotation but they said normally they charge for that, BUT if i give this particular dealer high marks on their service questionaire then he'd rotate my tires for free. got my car back the next day washed and ready to go.

Default I do not know.

It is a high performance oil filter intended for race/track conditions, so I have to assume since it is built the way it is and intended for this use, that it is fine. I have used it in my '00 1.8t Beetle for 57K miles and no problems (driven hard, but not track).

Mecca Oil Filter
