Default 12 months, first speeding ticket in my a4, not bad, eh?

I was doing 100 or so on northbound 395 on my way up to Mammoth(California) last weekend. A cop on the opposite side of the highway was coming at me at about 70 mph or so. He tagged me for doing 93. Is it possible for those radar detectors to get me while their moving too??? I studied math in college, so i know what it takes to figure out how fast i was going, but i was not aware that those radars could be used while in motion. Any thoughts?

Default good thing he only tagged you for 93...

in CA 100+ is an instant 30 day impounding of your vehicle along with a basket of other felonies.

at least the foot and a half of snow was worth the ticket, right?

Default That sucks. I just hired an attorney for my last ticket.

It's going to cost me $150 to get rid of a ticket for doing 10 over. It's $216 for the ticket, though, so very worth it.

Default Here's a defense you might consider...

A friend of mine got caught doing 195 kph in a 100 kph zone. The cop was going the other way on the way back from a stretch of road he was patrolling. He pulled over my friend and gave him the ticket, but my friend got the make and model of the radar from the cop when he pulled him over (he knew he was going to try and fight it instead of having to pay the hefty fine, so he tried to get as much info as possible that he might use in his defense). When he got home, he pulled up the specs of the radar gun on the internet and found that the optimal operating range for the radar was between something like 50% and 90% relative humidity. He then checked the Environment Canada website and found out it was 97% humidity that morning. An additional piece of info that helped - the stretch of road he was "caught" on is raised (2 lanes Westbound are higher up the hillside than the lower 2 lanes Eastbound, so he brought up questions in court regarding vectoring and distance, etc. that the cop could not accurately talk about unless he was a physics major) That info, plus the fact that cop wasn't actually patrolling, but had left his gun on and couldn't be 100% "sure" it was my friend's car he picked up at that speed, and the ticket got thrown out.

I don't know your exact situation, but maybe this will help...
