1200 mile oil change (first) what oil??....
I want to do an oil change before the 5000 mile one. Just chipped the car, and would feel better knowing the oil is new.
I have read that it may be too early to use synthetic if engine isnt completely broken in yet.
What oils would you recommend - Either Synthetic or Regular? For Synthetic I was thinking Mobil 1 0w40. What else is out there (anything cheaper??)

Apparently they use a special break in formula.
Up until 2004, they had people do their first oil change at 10k. They changed it to 5k, 15k, 25k. However, I'd probably guess 1200 is too early.
I changed mine at 4800.
I changed mine at 4800.

If you HAVE to change it (early), use the original Factory-Fill, Castrol SLX 0w-30, German Syntec...
only available at AutoZone. I would definately wait until 5k to change. Keep it topped with a good oil like Mobil 1 0w-40 until you can find the German Castrol and stock-up. I have 7 cases here for good reason, it's the best oil you can buy. I can recommend a few other for consideration. You mention price, for 4 quarts, you should not even consider price, but you CAN get good oil at all price points.
German Syntec 0w-30 red, not yellow label at AutoZone. $4 (must say "Made in Germany")
Mobil 1 SUV 5w-40 $4
Saab Synthetic 0w-30, $3/ltr
Mobil 1 0w-40 $4
Syntec Blend 10w-40 $2
Motorcraft or Havoline 5w-30 $1
I def recommend the German Syntec, twice a year. I was going 11,000 miles on mine but took a break to dino oil this summer to use with an engine treatment, auto-rx.com
PS any 5w-40 or 0w-XX oil will work fine.<ul><li><a href="http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=002114">German Castrol Syntec</a></li></ul>
