Default Did you vary the engine speed and load? It's important when breaking-in. Gotta beat on it!

The manual says not to let the engine sit at athe same speed for long periods. Although your mileage is great, if you only have a few thousand miles on your engine, you might not be following correct procedure. Use the tippy function for a while. Deep throttle not high revs-let them increase over time. Downshifts are a plus too.

That's similar to what I get on a 70mph road trip. I've seen up to 31mpg in warmer weather. Overall (mostly stop and go commuting), I've averaged around 25.0 on the display. But according to my milage log, I'm really getting about 23.5, indicating that the computer is ~6% optimistic. Milage did improve after the first 5000 miles or so. The drivetrain has to break in.

Default I get ~27 mpg on computer, less on my log - best tank a bit over 400

Computer shows 26.7 mpg for the life of the car (I've never reset the long setting), but I think I'm getting only a little better than 25. I haven't calculated from the log yet. My best tank is a bit over 400 miles, at about 16 gallons.

Default How much did you put in the tank?

I've never put more than 16 in the tank. I'm guessing the fuel tank warning doesn't count whatever's in "reserve". I think the tank is supposed to have 17.9 gallons, right?

That's pretty good! I drive like a grandma to get the 25.0 average. Do you drive mostly highway? Or maybe the manual is just that much more efficient.

Default I drive mostly highway and I think the manual is very efficient . . .

I sometimes notice good mileage in non-freeway driving. Around the suburbs with the occasional light, my mpgs sometimes improve because you get good mileage when you're coasting. I actually find my mpgs are down a bit when I'm going ~71-72 mph on the freeway (maybe 26-27 mpg), while I get much better when I'm going 65 (maybe 30 mpg). I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the car because my mpg at 72 mph is not that great. I think that should be better ??

I see around 30-35mpg on the immediate milage display with the cruise set at ~70. Very slight hills can make a big difference either way. A barely noticable downhill slope can give me 40mpg, and uphill can drop it to 25mpg. How many miles do you have on the odometer? My highway milage has definitely improved since the first 5000 miles.

Default

Had about 7500 miles on it before the trip. I told myself the break-in was over now.
