Brilliant Black is a traditional solid paint. Looks pretty schmick when new, but my dealer showed me a brand-new (non-demo) TT which had been in the showroom for 3 months. Even from gentle washing, it had swirls and scratches. Apparently it is a softer paint compound - probably a conventional paint.
Ebony Black Pearl Effect is a plastic (urethane?) paint which is much stronger. It has a clear coat just like Brilliant Black, but it is supposedly stronger.
I chose EBPE over BB mainly because I could get the car a month earlier. BB was my first choice.
Don't let anyone tell you that black gets dirty quicker, any color gets dirty!
