Default 2 piece brake rotors? Only ECS?

I am looking at the ECS 2 piece front rotors, anybody run them? Any good?

Default Stock rotor size?

The ECS rotors are nice if you live close enough to them to bring them back for mounting new rotor blanks when they get worn; they can't be turned or serviced elsewhere apparently.

If you're on stock brakes, I'd say don't bother, spend the money on a brake upgrade instead.

Default They dont dissipate heat as well as stock...

too wide of air gaps (too little actual rotor volume) and less cooling vanes then stock.

Default Mike, are you familiar with the differential setup for a 2005 B6 S4 Tip?

Helping a buddy with some maintenance and fluid changes in the next week or so on his new-to-him S4. Looked at the Bentley, and it showed capacities for a front, center and rear differential. Would it not be the same differential setup as the B6 A4? I just did my rear and tranny a few weeks ago on my 1.8TQM 5spd. I would think his would be the same sans he has the tip going on in the front and I'm recommending he have an indy shop do that for him. So we would only have his rear diff to DIY?

Thanks

.

It's similar. Do you have the Bentley for the S4?

Default OEM, Zimmerman, ECS slotted, they're all fine

I was referring to the ECS 2-piece rotors (aluminum hat and floating rotor) that cost an arm and a leg, reduce unsprung weight by a pound or two, and are a bitch to service. They do look shiny but are not a purchase I'd recommend

I run the ECS slotted OEM rotors with my B6 S4 brakes. First time with slotted, liking so far but only a few weeks in to ownership. We'll see how they hold up through a track day or two, and then through the winter.

Default Was thinking to go from 1.8 stock to 3.0 rotorsize and save some weight...

at the same time. Of course with new brackets.
