Default 2002 A4 audio system install?? speaker sizes?

Has anyone tried to install different drivers into the front doors on their 2002? Looks like both the front and rear doors have 2 speaker each and there is also some kinda 8" woofer in the rear deck. Has anyone had a good look at the drivers in the bottom of the doors? I was thinking of replacing the fronts, maybe even the 8" woofer with something alittle more serious. Any idea on how the aftermarket drivers would mate with the stock (non-bose) HU?

Hidden EQ?? Could be damn useful!! argh!

thanks,
mike

Default Running PPI 2360 and Boston Acoustics 10" now

I hear that the doors are upgraded to 6" drivers this year. The sub in the rear deck SUCKS!!!! I was in the trunk with it turned up and hardly heard a thing, its soooooo weak I didnt even bother unhooking it.

Default Stock system rear/sub weak - Front OK

The rear door speakers are hardly noticeable the sub woofer is very weak. The front door speakers seem to produce all the bass even with adjusting the rear/front balance. A summer project - can't wait

Maybe Audi/Bose made the same mistake Acura/Bose made.

People had been complaining that the Bose TruBass subwoofer (located in the spare tire well) in their RSX Type-S cars was weak and horrible in quality. It turned out that someone got the specs wrong and the wires ended up being reversed for the sub! Can anyone say out of phase?

Could be the problem. Does anyone know if they even filtered out the higher frequencies on the sub. When I stick my head in the trunk, I can still hear vocals and mids and highs coming through the speaker. This would account for crappy bass performance. If Audi didnt put a crossover in, one could easily be installed in the line going into the speaker in the trunk...

Default Door 6" speakers?

Can anyone verify this? Hmm, if that's the case, I can probably cram some Focal 165 k or k2 in there. I wonder how deep that area is.

Someone take apart their door already!! ;]

You should consider taking out that crappy rear woofer deal, you'll have that nice hole into the cabin. That should reduce the amount the rear deck resonates.

Default I'm putting in 2 12s and replacing the front speakers ( i think they are 6.5s) when ...

Im get my car in March.

I notice that my moms car even has the bose upgrade and the subwoofer does nothing. The new system is a little bit better (non Bose or Bose) but it still does not pound.

I am definately getting the 2 12s, then ill probably move the front speakers to the rear (if there are different) and get new components for the fronts.

Well, I thought it was a ten speaker system, with 8 in the doors and then a sub AND a center fill speaker in the rear. The center fill would explain the vocals and mids...
