Hi, new to the forum.
For the past few days now there's been a loud humming noise coming from the rear of the car - maybe the passenger side rear.
I've checked all fluids - power steering and oil and they are fine - seems to be no leakage. I thought it could be the sound of a pump going bad.
If anyone has experienced this or has any hints, it'd be appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Try replacing the fuel filter first and see if that helps. If it doesn't prepare to pay for the fuel pump replacement sometime in the near or far future.
I'm on my second fuel pump btw.

get towed. Not fun. If your under warranty get it replaced and get a new filter as well. Otherwise you too could be stuck at a dunkin donuts on your ride to work.

I couldn't figure out what it was. But my alternator went out a couple days after it started doing it idle. After the alternator was replaced, the noise was gone. If it does start doing it at idle, then I would take it to get a voltage check to see the output. Mine was only a couple volts low, but apparently that makes a huge difference.
It sucked. My car went haywire while I was driving. I got a tail light out warning, then esp and some other lights were flashing, but no CEL. Then my gauges went out, headlights stopped working, radio shut off, and the noise was really intense. I pulled over, turned off the car, and then it wouldn't start again. Did some tests with the Triple A driver, and found out it was the alternator.
Post back if you get anything somewhat similar soon, I'm curious to see if this can happen to anyone else.

Sorry for the late response - yes it was the fuel pump. I'm still trying to get it sorted out.
The fuel pump and filter were both replaced, but the car continues to take 2 or 3 times to start up. The shop i took it to is great and let me know to bring it back in.
I'll post back when my car is back to normal on what was the final solution.
