Just talked to a reputable salesman at a CT dealer about ordering 2003 A4. Here's what he said he learned after attending the recent Audi conference:
2003 A4 will have subtle changes. Price difference between 1.8T and 3.0 will narrow due to leather seat option change and other minor option changes. 1.8T will offer real leather as option. Body and engine will NOT change. Will be able to order in May/June when he gets order book. Production begins in June in Germany. Price will not be finalized until cars ship and dealer negotiations will be based on dollar amount over invoice the dealer desires to make. Delivery late August or early September.

they would hope for in 3.0 sales.
It was a bad marketing idea from the start, if increased 3.0 sales was behind it all.
Not offering leather kind of lessened the overall prestige of the brand, as slight as it may be, IMO.
As for me, I probably would have stuck with leatherette anyway, given it's quality and the price differential.

I was sitting downtown yesterday and I realized that I have to tint this car. I had black leather on a previous car and for some reason I thought it couldn't be as bad. Will be putting 50% all around.

that way they can offer gas guzzlering V8's.
Although I am not sure if Audi has a problem with the EPA.
Dont get me wrong I love V8's-nothing can replicate the sound.

Is it worth the $$$$? I'm not sure. If leatherette is no worse in the summer compared to the real deal then I'd say no.
I just have this feeling though that leatherette will be hotter and less breathable due to it's synthetic (plastic) nature.
Hopefully I wont sweat both ***** off. 90 damn degrees today too. :P
