Re: 2003 Audi 1.8T Quattro Tiptronic
Wow! You made my day, J4audi2! I'm waiting for my 1.8T Avant which could arrive any day now. I guess I can also work out the same deal with the auto dimming mirrors... Thanks for the info.

Did it have the multi-colored computer display? How does the Fiber Glass...
trim look in a platinum leather interior?? What I saw was beige and the fiber glass looked really cheap and didn't have a color computer display.

Re: Did it have the multi-colored computer display? How does the Fiber Glass...
No color display. (Unfortunately) Seats looked VERY classy in Platinum. I did not see a beige, only platinum and ebony. But I will be honest. The fiberglass only looked "expensive" in the ebony. It did not look cheap in the platinum though. Would like to see the beige...Still, the leather was VERY high quality and honestly beat the leatherette hands down. But I can't say that disappointment doesn't remain because of the loss of some of the features. (Tiptronic controls on steering, lumbar, smog sensor, rear heated seats, interior motion sensor, etc.) They claim the interior motion sensor was basically worthless unless you left your windows down and wanted the alarm to go off then. The glass breakage sensors remain.

thxs for the info. I'm thinking of getting my deposit back from the dearlership since....
most of the features have been discontiuned. Maybe in my mind, I wanted to hear some good things about the '03 that might make me change my mind.

Believe me though, the leather IS so much better, and it does look very classy. It is worth it just for the leather, I promise you. So there is a lot of positive. Get the dealer retrofit it for some of those features. You'll be glad you did, just for the leather. Or, if you want the power seat just have them delay production of your model to week 45 or later...

i also decided on an '02 instead of '03...
didn;t really wanna wait 3 months. & the features they took out for '03 was just too much!.
only positive thing for '03 was the leather surfaces, which adds another $600 to the Premium pkg

Re: But, the ONLY thing you can retrofit is the compass mirror.
True...there is a local company that does all that, aluminum trim, heated seats, etc. Lumbar, power. But the price for all those things to be done to this car...$2375. So is it worth it? No. In your case I think you are probably best getting an '02 and if you decide on real leather later or something buy it aftermarket for under $1500. I couldn't find an '02 that met my specs. There were a few, but no OnStar (huge insurance discount for me) and to get the 17" wheels I have to get the performance tires which are not suitable for winter here. So I'd have to get the all-season (another $500) so I figured that I'd stay with the '03 after I saw the leather. Still, I'm very disappointed and if you have that done aftermarket it is never the same. Let me know how it turns out and if you find an '02 that meets your specs. Good luck!
