Default As far as I know, you can't install a block heater on the A4...

only an oil pan heater (but I could be wrong, I'm telling you what the dealer told me). You can see it here in the pic, you just stick it to the bottom of the oil pan and run the wire/plug to the top.

OK thanks! Guess that's the reason I can't find the plug then!

Default no problem, the Ottawa idiot actually told me that...

I didn't need a block heater, all I needed was to run the car with synthetic oil. Obviously he had never been exposed to the -45C we often get in northern ON!!!

Default haha, I hear you loud and clear. Worst I've seen here in Chicago was -21c and that was tough

It was 2-3 years ago, or maybe more. I had a '95 90 V6....and my cars are parked on the street so getting it started was fun. it would barely turn....but it would start....then for 5 minutes you hear all sorts of clatter from under the hood and just hope its not your pistons turning up side down....few of those starts have shortened the life of that motor, I'm sure.

Default yeah, I remember mornings taking off with the access. belt just wailing...

and feeling like I was driving Fred Flintstone's car because the bottom of my tires were frozen flat.
