Default 2003 Audi A4 - No Seatbelt warning light :-(

Guys,
The seat belt warning light in my 2003 Audi A4 3.0L does not come up at all. I don't see the light before turning on the engine... all other indicators shown in my dashboard before starting the ignition.

I think it is disabled completely or the light is gone.

Has anyone ever experienced this issue? Let me know your opinion.

I want the light to come on before starting the ignition and beep at me when not wearing the seat belt.

Would need to check the instrument cluster codes to confirm whether that feature has/has not been disabled for your car? Previous owner may have disabled it. If you are absolutely certain it was enabled on your car, then cause is likely a faulty seat belt switch or bulb has blown. Do you hear the chime - if yes then blown bulb is the most likely cause.

Thanks A4Audi4Fun!

I don't hear the chime when not wearing seatbelt. It looks like the feature was disabled.

It is a code you can set with VAGcom. You either add 2 or subtract to from a value, then re enter the nubmer. The instuction will be in here somewhere. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/...et_%288E/8H%29

The chime noise is crazy. It is not a little bing-bong. I wouldnt have bought my car unless I knew the noise could be killed.

Thanks very much GeneBopp. I am ordering a VAF-Com to do this myself. My Audi dealer is asking for $120 just to diagnose and identify the issue.

# +02 = Seatbelt Warning (NAR old - up to 45/2004)

I guess I need to enter 0002231 to activate this feature.

00??xx1: Options
# +02 = Seatbelt Warning (NAR old - up to 45/2004)
00xx?x1: Country
# 2 = USA (US)
00xxx?1: Seatbelt Warning
# 3 = Seatbelt Warning USA and Canada (NAR new)

Not sure if I got this right...

0002201 (FWD) 0003201 (AWD)(for the old seatbelt warning) or 0000231 (FWD) 0001231(AWD) (for the new seatbelt warning) would be my suggestions.

make sure you add or subtract the 2 from the number YOUR car already has. That number can change many things. If you use a number you found on the internet you might change things about your car you like. Write down the before and after numbers and save them. I took pictures of the computer screen to make sure i didnt miss anything. But before you do this .... the chime REALLY sucks.

Thanks Guys...

I don't know if it was disabled or something else is causing it. The only way I can confirm it is by turning on the feature using VAG-Com...

Will try it and let you guys know....
