2004 1.8tQM or 2001 S4 6 spd?
I currently have a 2002 330i but am looking to trade for an Audi very soon. I've been buying a new cars almost every year or so for the last 4 years of my life and am realizing that I'm losing alot of money doing so. I want to make my next car something I can keep for 2 years or more while trying to save for a house.
My question is: what do you think would make more sense, a 04 1.8tQ 5 spd, or a 01 S4 6 spd? The S4 has 25k and is almost $34,000, and the 1.8t I could get for slightly over invoice from a salesman I know very well at another dealer. (@$30,500 with my options)
I guess I'm just trying to consider the depreciation, maintenance costs involved, and which car would make more sense?
I'm thinking the S4 has most of its depreciation out of the way, although it is used and the old body style. The 1.8t would be a new car, although it might not hold it's value as well and doesn't have all the pep of the S4.
(I have only driven the S4 so far. I'll be driving the 1.8t this week)
Either way, I'm just trying to get get some of your opinions to help me out along the way. Thanks for any input you provide.

Re: 2004 1.8tQM or 2001 S4 6 spd?
after driving the 330i, you might feel the 1.8t low on power(hp and torque) if its power you crave then go for the s4.
i would personally go for the 2004 1.8T. mainly because it would be new. and looks like you are getting a good deal on it.

You willing to wait for the A4?
You said 2004...you willing to wait another 4-6 months? Or did you mean 2003? Personally, I'd prefer the new car...drp a few grand next year to upgrade the turbo and associated parts if you need more power.

Re: You willing to wait for the A4?
I could wait until the new ones came out I suppose. What around September delivery???
I think I would just APR chip it or something easy, don't want to get all wild with this car if it's something I'm going to have to live with for 2 years or so.

Where are you located? I know somone selling an '01 S4 w/ 12.5k miles.
If you are interested, call AL at Rush Hour Racing (714) 577-1100.
I believe he is asking about about the same asking price you got on the S4 you inquired.
It is a 6 speed, Blue exterior, possibly Ming Blue, not sure, but very well taken car of.
If you are interested, call him.

well...
For starters, it was hit 2 months after I owned it when some idiot in a pickup rear ended me at a light. Nothing major, new bumper and new trunk lid, but still the car has been hit which lowered it's value apparently. A while I think the car looks great, it really does lack a lot of features that I love in the Audi's. The interiors of your Audi's look nice and high tech, while mine looks old fashioned IMO, even with my subtle M3 enhancements. Then is the whole issue of Quattro. While it hardly snows here, when it does I've BARELY made it to my destination. Anyway, this is my 3rd E46 BMW, so I'm fairly bored of them by now. I want an Audi, I'm just trying to pick the best one for me.
