I'm in the bay area in California. Weather is from 60-75F. The 8 miles I drive is mostly fwy. Should I warm up my car first? and if so for how long?

No warmup needed for that kind of drive.....sounds like you're running rich possibly....
check for faults in the ECU. Hopefully your Mass Air Flow sensor doesn't have oil on it from the K&N....but that could be the case.

manually, but my computer is typically almost dead on...
if you don't do it manually then do, and compare it to your computer read out. If your computer read out is off then you can adjust it with the vag-com software or have the dealer do it if you're still under warranty.
