Default 2004 Light Sensor Package

It's a light sensor in in the interior rear view mirror that comes with following features:

Automatic light switch: Turns lights on and off automatically depending on light level outside (AUTO position will be added to the outside light switch)

"Coming home" feature which leaves (fog)lights few seconds after the engine is turned off

"Leaving home" feature which turns (fog)lights on when car is unlocked

While American vehicles have had this for decades now, the Germans are just realizing how cool this feature can be. So, here it is.

Default No need for a sensor if you use em night AND day anyway.

I'd much rather see lights that turn on and off with the engine, like Volvo has for years. Why design a buzzer that warns about leaving your light on, if it could at the same time turn them off for you...

And while we're at it...if there is a light sensor, will there also be a rain sensor? Cause that I might like.

Default I really never saw the need for automatic headlights and the foglight thing sounds like just fluff

anyway. I'm well aware of the light and environmental conditions around me and what exterior/interior illumination I need.

It does seem like some people need this feature though, since I always see idiots on the road at dusk or in the rain with no lights on, or at night with just parking lights on. Ugh.

Well, the DRLs can be programmed as the headlights anyway, and then they WOULD turn on with engine

No, you have a choice depending on the code - fogs or headlights

It's supposed to illuminate the area as you walk to or from the car. *shrug*

imo just a gadget/gimmick. No real use. Had it on my previous car and never used it.
