Why? V6 has equal power and greater refinement. And ...
don't assume that this Turbo will be much cheaper than the V6. This new Turbo engine will likely be an additional, more sporty, engine option with possibly other exclusive options.

Interesting stuff....
so confusing! We will just have to wait and see. I am more curious to find out if the A3 will make it over here. That is what I really want. If Audi does bump the horsepower on the 1.8T A4 which it desperately needs then they obviously have some sort of plan for the V6 engine as well. Hmmm.........

Next 1- 2 months?
This guy says to expect seeing the commercials in the next 1-2 months? That means the cars are already on the boat because it takes that long for the cars to get here. If these commercials are true, I really doubt we'll see them any time soon. I think Audi already has it's 2003 line selected. If anything they'll be 2004 models and the commercials will air when the cars arrive at the dealerships. Only in very rare instances, do commercials air for cars that are not available at dealerships.

Kind of suspect from what I've heard elsewhere. My guys at the engine lab
have been messing mostly with the RS6 lately. They get cars waayyy in advance of an actual launch, so if something like this where to happen, I'd say it's 8 to 12 months away.
Making the 3.0 redundant after so much development went into it ( new block and heads ), would be very odd. The VR6 is designed to work in transverse applications except for the Touareg - and does not mate up with the A4 mechanically without a lot of work. The Passat gets a 2.0t 200hp engine along with the 3.2VR6 in a transverse layout for '04/'05, so the Audi 3.0 V6 would be a dead end there. The 2.0t would be a shoe-in, much like the present 1.8t between VW and Audi.
For all we know, Audi is planting info and looking for leaks.
