The 3.0 got a 10k checkup and this euro ****
Thanks for the info Raistlin! I thought the **** looked good, but it feels much better shifting than the globe ****.
I know others have noted it, but Martyn over at vagparts.com is the source, great to work with.

I got mine for free...
My original **** was scratched on delivery. When I brought the car in for them to install the new ****, they broke the new **** while installing it (though they didn't say anything - it came off in my hand on the way home). Finally, the third **** was installed correctly, and it was the "euro" ****. At first I wasn't sure I liked it, but having a working, scratch free **** was the key at the moment. It grew on me, now I really like it.

Re: How much and how was the install?
It was ~$89, depending on the currency exchange rate. The install was cake, there are 4 tabs that attach the **** boot to the plate. Pull those back a little, and the whole boot pulls up. The hardest part was getting the clip around the base off, onlt had a screwdriver. Took ~10 min.
